Berkeley Athlete Spotlight: Jen Schnell

As a part of the fitness, wellness, and health community, Verdure Sports Massage would like to highlight some of our amazing local athletes in a series of videos, photos, and newsletters.

Our next athlete is Jen Schnell, an elite amateur triathlete and former D1 collegiate swimmer. I had the pleasure of interviewing Jen about her sport and got to peak into how she incorporates sports massage into her training regimen. I also had the opportunity to film her in action.

TRIATHLON

Jen is an accomplished triathlete who's been an athlete her whole life. After competing in Division 1 swimming in college, she's now a highly competitive elite triathlete. For the last 5 years, she's been solely focused on triathlon, striving to achieve her goals and make the sport more sustainable while staying healthy for her longevity and love of the sport.

Jen's approach to triathlon is a perfect balance of ambition and practicality. She knows that achieving her goals requires dedication, hard work, and proper training, but she also understands the importance of staying injury-free and maintaining her overall health.

Jen's ultimate goal in the sport is to see how far she can push herself to achieve the highest level possible and crack the professional rankings. But she also wants to use her experience and knowledge to help make the sport more accessible and sustainable for future generations of triathletes.

As an athlete, Jen is an inspiration to many. Her dedication, passion, and drive are evident in everything she does, both on and off the course. We're excited to see what the future holds for this exceptional triathlete and wish her all the best in her journey. #Triathlon #EliteAthlete #SustainableSport #PassionAndDrive #Division1Swimming

SPORTS MASSAGE

For the past 5 years, she has focused specifically on triathlon, pushing herself to achieve her performance goals and excel in the sport. As an athlete, Jen understands the importance of sports massage in her journey.

Currently managing a tendon injury in her hip, Jen knows that sports massage plays a critical role in preventing and managing injuries. With a busy season ahead and a strong desire to continue training, she recognizes the need to train consistently while intelligently and safely managing her injury. Sports massage has become a valuable support system for Jen, helping her maintain her training routine and aiding in injury recovery.

In addition to her hip injury, Jen also deals with an old knee injury that has caused compensation and imbalances in her body. Sports massage allows her to unwind the compensation patterns she has developed, helping her reset and start afresh.

Jen's dedication to her sport and her awareness of the benefits of sports massage are commendable. By incorporating this recovery modality into her training regimen, she can continue pursuing her performance goals while maintaining a balanced and injury-free body.

As she continues to strive for excellence in triathlon, Jen serves as an inspiration to fellow athletes, demonstrating the importance of self-care and smart injury management. We wish her the best of luck in her upcoming season and beyond!
